Food Industry

Mission:

The group started as a meeting platform for the Spanish food industry, interested in taking advantage of the opportunities offered by biotechnology in order to develop new products and contribute to food safety, quality and traceability. One of its main objectives is to contribute to the setting up of a suitable regulatory framework for the development of functional foods in the European Union context, trying to influence EU policies regarding new food products, food ingredients, or anything that affects our sector international competitiveness.


Latest activities:

Production of the Manifesto "Biotechnology as a tool for safer, healthier and more pleasant food" Presentation of a position paper on "Problems of New Technologies in Agrifood Industry." Promotion of specific legislation on allergen labelling and biotechnological alternatives to detect these substances in foods.
