Mission:
This group is focused on dealing concretely with the most urgent aspects directly related to financing biotechnology companies in Spain. In this sense, the main objective of the group has been to identify potential areas of common interest in order to recommend a series of short- and medium-term measures to be applied.
Suggesting improvements to government grant programs (such as PROFIT), claiming a Statute for young innovative companies in Spain, or making conditions for IPOs more flexible to biotech companies are some of the challenges addressed by the Group.
Latest activities:
Position paper with suggestions to improve the Spanish Subsidy Law. Analysis of government grants to companies. Conference on the Alternative Investment Market aimed at biotech companies. Proposal letter with financial measures to face the current crisis. Petition addressed to the Treasury Department to expand to the national level the measures of a 20 per cent tax rebate granted to companies quoted on the AIM or new companies increasing their capital, and to get full payment of cumulative tax deductions not collected by innovative companies due to the lack of taxable income to offset.
