Report about trends on Biological Products

This report has been elaborated in collaboration with the Politechnical University of Madrid, joins the V Foro University - company 2008.

With this forum, promoted by the UPM and by the Council of Economy of the Community of Madrid, the Community of Madrid can identify those sectors with potential development and that could be interesting to foment. In addition, this Forum represents a good opportunity to present the worries and needs of the managerial fabric of the CM, included the biotechnological one.

The Biotechnology as a vector of competitiveness in traditional sectors (INNOEMPRESA)

ASEBIO, with the support of the MITYC, set in motion an ambitious biotech applications diffusion programme in PYMEs of the Spanish traditional industry sectors to offer "bio-solutions" relating to: Bioprocess (chemical, textile, foodstuff, pharmacy etc), quality control technologies, security and traceability based on biotechnology and ingredients and functional allegations (foodstuff, cosmetic, etc).

A technological advisors network was established, conformed by associated companies to ASEBIO, which carried out 75 technological diagnoses. Said diagnostics described exhaustively the aspects of a traditional PYME that was object of improvement by means of the biotechnology.

II Spanish Forum of Bioregions

ASEBIO and the State Company for the Attraction and Promotion of the Exterior Investments (INTERES Invest in Spain) celebrated the "II Spanish Forum of Bioregions", which in this edition included the contribution of Biocat - Bioregió of Catalunya and Barcelona Activa. Under the title " Experiences exchange of Clusters Biotech", this forum met the main responsible of the central and autonomous administrations, interface companies, and environment R&D + i that head it set in motion of bioclusters in Spain, for exchanging experiences and agreeing to different cases of international success in public politics of support to the biotech sector.

European project of Good Bioethical Practices

ASEBIO participates in the European project on Good Bioethical Practices "From GMP to GBP: Fostering Good Bioethical Practices (GBP) among European Biotechnology Industry" prompted by France Biotech, Europabio and other companies. This project implies to biotechnology companies of Estonia, Hungary, Spain, Sweden and France and with it expects to improve the comprehension of the bioethical using the biotech companies daily practice. The results will contribute to define a methodology for the evaluation of these practices and facilitate the connection between industry, authorities and society.

RedBio

The objective of this project is establishing an encounter platform that permit working of coordinated form to different agents implied in the development of the Spanish biotech sector. REDBIO is an initiative promoted by ASEBIO, the Spanish Association of Biocompanies and in which participate besides three regional business organizations (CATALONIABIO, BIOMADRID and BIOVAL) and a scientific society (SEBIOT).
