The Instituto de Ingeniería del Conocimiento (IIC) is a non-profit R&D center founded in 1989 and, therefore, has been working on Big Data analysis and Artificial Intelligence for more than 30 years. Its value bet is the development of algorithms and analytical solutions tailored to different businesses in different sectors, always based on applied research. In fact, its mission is to cover the complete cycle of innovation: from basic research to the transfer of technological advances to society. All this under the protection of its current associates: IBM Spain, Santander Group, MAPFRE and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid UAM.

We currently have more than 160 professionals and we differentiate ourselves by being a multidisciplinary team that includes data scientists, computer engineers and mathematicians, but also computational linguists, psychologists and psychometricians, among others. The variety of profiles allows us to have a broader knowledge of the areas we target and offer projects that are more comprehensive and solutions. Specifically, we are specialized in the areas of Banking, Human Resources, Energy, Health, Insurance and Customer Intelligence.

Products and services
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP) and language technologies. Given the large amount of text information that we generate, the possibility arises of analyzing it, taking advantage of it and discovering data and relationships that may go unnoticed. PLN techniques allow to automatically extracting insights from the information available in any sector. At the IIC, we develop Machine learning models and language models that applies to advanced information searches, document classification, term and entity extraction, anomaly detection, sentiment analysis or as a basis for known Chabot. These applications are being very useful, for example, in the legal sector, in customer service or in health.
  • HR Analytics: allows obtaining quality evidence to make organizational decisions related to human resources departments.
  • Predictive analytics in HR. We help classify or predict the success of candidates, professionals and students with a specific purpose.
  • Assessment and selection of talent: online situational tests of attitudes and personality that assess transversal skills and competencies of candidates or employees with different professional profiles.
  • Health data analysis: The analysis of health data using Artificial Intelligence techniques helps transform health data into useful knowledge to continue improving medical processes and protocols.
  • Clinic HPO: Using Artificial Intelligence techniques, we are able to detect terms automatically from the Human Phenotype Ontology.
  • Bisepro: Intelligent alert system that provides support to health professionals in establishing protocols, early diagnosis of sepsis infection.
  • Prediction of renewable energy generation: Attention focused on some parameters and investment priories to optimize resources and save costs, to help in a more efficient management of the service.
