Organized by AseBio and the Government of Navarra through Sodena, the Navarra Development Society, the Green Innovation Forum will bring together over 300 professionals on November 19 in Pamplona to discuss the opportunities biotechnology offers as a key tool in the transition toward a more sustainable, carbon-neutral, and greener economic model.

AseBio. You recently signed an exclusive marketing agreement with MERLIN Properties for a 5,000-square-meter area in the 22@ District in Barcelona. What projects will you be developing at this new facility?

Matthew Ferreira. At our new facility in the vibrant 22@ District, SunLabs will host a comprehensive array of projects, from early-stage biotech research to advanced product development. The space is designed to accommodate labs and offices, providing high-quality infrastructure tailored for startups and established companies alike. Our aim is to create an environment that attracts and nurtures innovation, facilitates partnerships, and drives forward-thinking solutions for global health challenges.

AseBio. Innovation is the foundation of the future, and your solutions provide the resources needed to accelerate research. Based on your experience, what is the current state of innovation in the life sciences field in Spain?

Matthew Ferreira. Spain’s life sciences sector is on an upward trajectory, marked by increased investment and a growing network of research and biotech startups. However, there is still untapped potential that can be harnessed through better access to state-of-the-art facilities and international collaborations. SunLabs aims to provide these resources, as a community to foster a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.

AseBio. The Green Innovation Forum emphasizes biotechnology as a key tool in the transition toward a more sustainable, carbon-neutral, and greener economic model. What motivated you to take the step to support this event?

Matthew Ferreira. Supporting the Green Innovation Forum aligns with SunLabs' mission of fostering sustainable and forward-thinking life sciences initiatives. Preparing for LEED Gold Certification in our building, we believe that biotechnology holds the power to transform industries and contribute significantly to carbon-neutral and environmentally friendly practices. Partnering with ASEBIO to support this event allows us to back and elevate discussions that align with our values of sustainability and innovation. 

AseBio. What are your expectations from your support and participation in an event like the Green Innovation Forum?

Matthew Ferreira. Our participation aims to position SunLabs as a leader and catalyst for sustainable innovation. We expect to establish meaningful connections, inspire collaboration among industry leaders, and identify opportunities that align with our goal of promoting cutting-edge research and sustainable practices. This event will also help showcase our dedication to not only contributing to life sciences advancements but also to supporting Spain’s position as a global biotech leader.
