BioBridges
The BioBridges project was conceived to tackle the key challenge of improving the marketability of bio-based products (BBPs) by fostering close cooperation and partnerships among bio-based industries, brand owners and consumers’ representatives.
BioBridges also got other interested parties, such as local communities and authorities and other industrial players, involved in those partnerships among bio-based industries, brand owners and consumers’ representatives in order to set up pathways for collaboration that promote commercialisation and market access for bio-based products. We also sought to facilitate interconnections in the sector and new synergies.
Through Biobridges, methods, procedures and good practices were developed to support co-creation of new intersector associations.
The main challenges of the project were:
- Assessing the level of cooperation and mutual learning among producers of bio-based products (industry and brand owners) and consumers (citizens) and identifying the key factors impeding this cooperation.
- Identifying good practices to improve this cooperation and ensure all interested parties play an active role in designing bio-based products.
- Identifying the most relevant sectors for the bioeconomy, those that show the greatest potential for cooperation to generate new value chains and improve existing ones
