HIPRA was awarded the ‘Bien Hecho en España’ prize by the Ministry of Industry in recognition of its contribution to strategic autonomy. The award was presented by King Felipe VI to the company’s President, David Nogareda, at a ceremony held at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao as part of the National Industry Congress.

This recognition highlights HIPRA’s commitment to industrial leadership in biotechnology, scientific innovation and the development of in-house production capabilities in Europe. From a One Health perspective, the company plays a key role in strengthening Europe’s healthcare capacity, integrating human, animal and environmental health.

Among its initiatives is its participation in the European EU FAB project, aimed at ensuring flexible manufacturing capacity in response to health emergencies. In addition, HIPRA is leading the SPEEDCELL project under the EU4Health programme, with the goal of reducing the time required to develop new vaccines to just 100 days in future health crises.

The company also developed the first Spanish COVID-19 vaccine, fully researched and manufactured in Europe, contributing to strengthening the continent’s biotechnological independence. With more than 50 years of experience, HIPRA is a global reference in animal health and has expanded into human health, including the launch of HIPRA Biotech Services.

According to David Nogareda, President of HIPRA, this recognition highlights the strategic role of industry in creating jobs, driving innovation and strengthening competitiveness from Spain. HIPRA thus reaffirms its commitment to global prevention and to reinforcing Europe’s industrial capabilities.
