Miramoon Pharma, a biotechnology company based in Donostia-San Sebastián, has been awarded second prize in the prestigious Eye Pitch Competition held during ARVO 2026, one of the world’s leading international conferences in ophthalmology and vision sciences. The company received a $15,000 prize after presenting before an international panel of experts, investors, and industry leaders its novel therapy candidate, MP-004, designed to address retinitis pigmentosa, a rare inherited retinal disease that progressively causes vision loss and currently lacks effective treatment options for many patients.

The recognition highlights the growing international interest in Miramoon Pharma’s research and reinforces the potential of its therapeutic approach for rare retinal diseases. The Eye Pitch Competition is considered one of the key platforms for emerging ophthalmology companies to showcase breakthrough innovations with the potential to transform the treatment landscape for vision disorders.

Miramoon Pharma was selected as one of only five finalists from a pool of more than 100 applications submitted by companies around the world. During the competition, the company presented the scientific basis, clinical potential, and development strategy behind MP-004.

The award represents an important milestone for the Basque biotech company as it continues advancing its research and strengthening its international visibility within the ophthalmology sector. Participation in ARVO 2026, which was held in Denver this year, also provided Miramoon Pharma with the opportunity to connect with global investors, pharmaceutical partners, and scientific experts, further supporting the future development of its innovative candidate, MP-004.
