Biology Principal Scientist

Celtarys Research (www.celtarys.com), a newly created startup based in Santiago de Compostela (Spain), with an innovative proprietary chemical conjugation technology for the development of bioactive complex compounds, is looking for a Biology Principal Scientist.

She/He will lead the internal R&D programs in their biological perspective. R&D programs include the development of new drug candidates as well as the development of chemical biology tools for drug discovery. She/He will be also responsible for the design and coordination of the biological assessment of all chemical biology compounds generated by Celtarys’ chemistry team.

We are looking for:

• A PhD with proven experience in Drug Discovery with > 4 years’ experience as post doc.
• Extensive and accreditated experience in: 

- Therapeutical target validation and design of screening cascades for new drug discovery programs.

-Understanding of molecule/target interaction principles and modes.

-Deep understanding of the biological data related to the compounds developed to incorporate them into new designs and/or potential refinement for hit to lead development

-Knowledge of medicinal chemistry in the context of new drug modalities. 

• Strong independence, problem solving, troubleshooting skills and proven ability to lead research projects.
• Responsible and goal-oriented professional, able to integrate into a multidiciscplinary team and work in a competitive environment, dealing with multiple projects and client deadlines.
• Fluent in English 

Responsibilities include: 

• Lead and coordinate the conceptualization, design and execution of research projects for the development of new drug candidates developed applying Celtarys proprietary technology.
• Lead the biological characterization of new chemical tools, such as fluorescent ligands, developed applying Celtarys proprietary technology.
• Manage internal assigned R&D projects and clients requests.
• Collaborate with chemistry and biology colleagues locally and throughout our international network of public and private collaborators. 
• Prepare R&D proposals for funding.
