Head of Microbial Biochemistry lab

ZYMVOL® is a venture-backed biotech company specialized in the design, development and application of molecular modeling software in the discovery and development of new industrial enzymes.

Until now the company was 100% computational, but we're now launching our own lab facilities to complement our activity.

For this matter, we are looking for a Head of Microbial Biochemistry to set up the company’s lab which is located at the Parc Cientific de Barcelona 

This position will support the continued development of novel industrial enzymes designed in the company’s dry lab for both internal R&D and customer projects.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years as a Leader with a good understanding of laboratory sciences, technologies, processes and methods related to running a microbiology-based laboratory.
• PhD in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry or a closely related field
• Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) 
• Process automation experience (preferred)
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• English proficiency 

Responsibilities:

• Set up the new microbial biochemistry laboratory which will include ordering equipment, hiring talent, writing SOPs and test procedures.
• Oversee hiring and training of all new microbiology/biochemistry laboratory staff members.
• Design and support the execution of experimental tests
• Ensure the smooth and adequate flow of information between the wet and dry lab
• Assist with client support as needed.
• Evaluation and communication of results (written reports)
• Identify process bottlenecks and offer solutions for improvement
• Support in the preparation of proposals and presentations in a customer facing environment.
• Plan, coordinate and manage all administrative procedures and systems related to the lab.
