Laboratory Technician in Chemistry

Job description

We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician in Chemistry to join our interdisciplinary team to develop new agents designed to modulate tumor dormancy to fight cancer progression. The candidate will participate in a highly translational project with interactions with academic institutions, industry and clinicians. The usual work center of the work offer is at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Barcelona.
It is a great opportunity to gain drug discovery and development experience and in the following key tasks:

• Participation of the design and synthesis of new compounds in the Hit-to-Lead and Lead Optimization process under the supervision of the Senior Chemist Research Scientist of the company.
•  Execution of different synthesis methodologies for the improvement of candidate scale-up.
•  Production of the necessary quantities for subsequent biological evaluation.
• Maintenance of the equipment and facilities of the research chemical laboratory to keep them operational.
•  Participation in scientific meetings and data interpretation.

This position is related to the Investigo grant of which Oniria has been a beneficiary.
It is not excluded that the candidate can start the PhD in industrial chemistry, pharmacy or related field during the Investigo grant period if he/she is not a PhD.
 

Requirements

Must have:

• Bachelor degree chemistry, pharmacy, or related field.
•  Be under 30 years old.
• Good teamwork and interpersonal skills, as well as independent, motivated, and collaborative person.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Nice to have:

•  Knowledge of the drug discovery process/biotech industry.
• Master or PhD in industrial chemistry, pharmacy, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with industrial chemistry techniques.
