A research assistant opportunity is available in to work at the Translational Synthetic Biology lab, in close collaboration with the its Spin-off company Integra Therapeutics (https://integra-tx.com/).

We are seeking a motivated research assistant to contribute in engineering novel genome editing tools and their application for developing more efficient and safer gene therapy technologies.

The candidate will participate in a translational project focused in deploying our multiplex screening assay for protein optimization. Previous experience in molecular cloning, flow citometry, and next generation sequencing will be highly valued.

Our lab is located at the PRBB in Barcelona (http://www.prbb.org/), one of the largest hubs of biomedical research of southern Europe.

Expected starting date: February 2022

 

Company that finances the contract

Integra Therapeutics is a collaborator of UPF and will finance this contract through a collaboration agreement entitle: Subcontracting R&D Activities for Advance Gene editing platform enhancement by Integra Therapeutics to UPF.

 

Information on the requirements

  • MSc in biology, biotechnology, genetics, experimental or health sciences.
  • Relevant laboratory experience.
  • Previous experience in mammalian cell culture and transfection, FACS analysis, viral vector production, advance gene editing, qPCR, and/orDNA based molecular biology in general will be highly valued.
  • Interest in applied genetic engineering and synthetic biology.
  • Curiosity and motivation to develop new biotechnologies to treat diseases.
  • Good time management and communication skills.
  • Excellent team player who enjoys working in a fast-evolving research environment.

 

Benefits of the opening

The candidate will receive a full-time contract and an annual salary according to the UPF salary guidelines; possibility to be hired by Integra Therapeutics after the assignment at UPF. She/he will be able to receive training in complementary through courses of Pompeu Fabra University and the PRBB Intervals Program.
