Biometriks Health, Ubikare, vitalera, Athlon y Cuico Health selected to present at the Health 2.0 Basque panel during the XIII International Digital Health Congress Bilbao, September 1, 2026
Health 2.0 Basque, the community created in 2016 to lead the future of health in the Basque Country through technology and innovation, will hold its next meeting next week—specifically on Friday, September 11—as part of the XIII International Digital Health Congress. Under the motto "The future of healthcare: intelligence, data, and people to transform care," the congress will take place within the framework of the Summer Courses of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) at the Miramar Palace in Donostia / San Sebastián from September 9 to 11, 2026.
The XIII International Digital Health Congress, organized by the Digital Health Association (ASD) and Fundación Signo, is directed by Marisa Merino, President of Fundación Signo, Vice President of ASD, and Managing Director of Fundación Hospitalarias Euskadi.
Digital health is no longer a future promise; it has become a reality that is already transforming how we care for, prevent, diagnose, accompany, and manage healthcare systems. Artificial intelligence, data, automation, remote care, new models of clinical relationships, and emerging technologies are opening extraordinary opportunities to improve people's health and the sustainability of organizations.
However, this transformation cannot be measured solely by the adoption of new tools. Its true value will depend on our ability to place innovation at the service of people, healthcare professionals, and healthcare systems. The question is no longer whether healthcare will be digital, but what kind of digital healthcare we want to build: one that is more human, safer, more equitable, smarter, and focused on outcomes that matter.
The Congress will gather healthcare professionals, managers, patients, researchers, technology companies, institutions, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders in Donostia / San Sebastián to reflect, share experiences, and anticipate the major challenges of the next decade.
For Friday, September 11, five projects have been chosen to present their proposals at the Health 2.0 Basque panel, moderated by its founders: Blanca Usoz, specialist in Occupational Medicine, Health, and Workplace Wellbeing; Gonzalo López, Business Development Manager for Digital Health & Biomedical Technologies at Vicomtech; and Juan Carlos Santamaría, Communications Director at Ubikare.
The selected projects are:
- Nagore Fernández, CEO & Founder of Biometriks Health, will present TRIVIUM, a smart neuromodulation platform designed to improve rehabilitation for individuals with brain damage. It combines a wearable device with AI-based software that analyzes the patient's physiological response in real time and automatically adjusts stimulation parameters. Its goal is to enhance neuroplasticity and promote motor and cognitive recovery through personalized, more precise, and effective treatments for clinical practice.
- Iker Pérez de Albeniz, Innovation Director at Ubikare, will present OSATURIK, a strategic project focused on converting real-world clinical data into standardized and interoperable assets using models such as OMOP and FHIR. Through the use of Generative and Agentic AI, it automates the structuring of longitudinal patient cohorts and reduces administrative burdens for healthcare professionals. Additionally, it drives the creation of secure biomedical data spaces aligned with the European Health Data Space (EHDS), ensuring privacy and technological sovereignty.
In the OSATURIK project, alongside Ubikare, participating companies include Ayesa, Biolan, Redytel, Clínica Asunción, Data Value Management, STT Systems, Noray Bio, ESAME Biomedical, and Izertis. Members from the Basque Network of Science, Technology, and Innovation (RVCTI) include Vicomtech, Multiverse Computing, BCV Innovación, BIOBizkaia, and Basque Health Cluster. - Nuria Pastor Hernández, CEO and Co-founder, will talk about vitalera, a smart telemedicine and remote patient monitoring solution that enables the remote collection of clinical health data to support better clinical decision-making. The solution integrates into electronic health records or any platform, creating smart care plans covering more than 20 conditions, including diabetes, oncological diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and telerehabilitation. It includes clinical data collection via conversational AI voice calls and interoperability (FHIR/HL7) with an artificial intelligence-based health agent. vitalera highlights that this is demonstrated in the Basque Country through two complementary programs: together with Osakidetza, Telefónica, Sinhfo, and Dycare, bringing remote monitoring for telerehabilitation patients to the Basque public health system; and with AHOTSERA, a voice agent with AI in Basque for accompanying elderly people with chronic illnesses, developed with funding from Hazitek (Spri – Basque Government). These two initiatives show how Basque healthcare can be digital, interoperable, and close to the patient.
- Alberto Luna López, Founder of Cuico Health, will explain how they empower chronic patients to take control of their own health from home by providing the necessary information, tools, and continuous support to understand their condition, make informed decisions, and live with the best possible quality of life without feeling isolated or dependent on the hospital. Medical data, personalized tasks, routines, nutritional tracking, and protocols are designed so that patients understand what is happening with their body and why they need to perform each action.
- Gorka Martinez de Lahidalga, Head of Innovation and Consulting at Athlon S Coop., will present CARDIA, a study focused on developing a multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) model to assist sports physicians in decision-making regarding referring athletes to cardiology.
The goal of Health 2.0 Basque is to bring together all stakeholders in the Digital Health ecosystem in Euskadi, from both the public and private sectors, to share the latest advancements in health technology and discover emerging projects within the local business community.
Marisa Merino, Congress Director, encourages attendance and notes: "We talk about value-based digital health when digital solutions genuinely contribute to improving health outcomes, patient and professional experiences, process efficiency, and the sustainability of the healthcare system."
