AseBio has launched the call for expressions of interest to select the next host cities for BIOSPAIN, Spain’s leading biotechnology event and one of the sector’s major gatherings in Europe.

The new process aims to select the host city for the 15th edition of BIOSPAIN, which will take place in late September or early October 2028, as well as assess proposals for BIOSPAIN 2030 (the host cities for the 2027 and 2029 editions have already been decided).

In addition, interested organisations may submit applications for future editions and put forward multi-year proposals, in accordance with the conditions set out in the call documents.

What will be assessed in candidate cities?

Interested cities must submit a bid dossier outlining both the requirements for hosting an event of BIOSPAIN’s scale and the strengths of their biotechnology ecosystem.

The information to be included covers the financial proposal and any potential in-kind contributions; information about the city, particularly its local biotechnology industry and its capacity to attract investment and business; the facilities available at the exhibition and congress venue; hotel accommodation capacity; connectivity, with particular emphasis on international connections; and the availability of distinctive venues for the social events associated with BIOSPAIN.

The partner organisation’s involvement in the national and international promotion of BIOSPAIN will also be taken into account, along with the potential allocation of human resources to its organisation and promotion, as well as institutional support and participation from local or regional authorities, including their communications and protocol teams.

Applications may also indicate their availability to host BIOSPAIN in other years and their interest in submitting multi-year proposals.

BIOSPAIN, a Meeting Point for the Biotechnology Sector

Organised by AseBio since 2003, BIOSPAIN combines a trade exhibition, partnering through one-to-one meetings, a comprehensive programme of sessions including an investor forum, networking events and a Talent Day.

This structure will be maintained in 2028, with any improvements agreed upon with the local partner organisation. English will remain the official language to support the event’s international reach.

AseBio’s board of Directors will be responsible for making the final decision on the host cities, based on the information provided in the respective bid dossiers.
