From scientific knowledge to the market: the talent the biotech sector needs

Biotechnology has established itself as one of the main drivers of innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. More and more breakthroughs are emerging from start-ups, spin-offs and biotech companies that research, develop and validate new solutions, subsequently scaling up through investment, strategic agreements, licences or partnerships with large companies.

In this context, the challenge lies not only in generating scientific knowledge, but also in knowing how to protect it, transfer it, finance it and turn it into solutions with the potential to reach the market. To this end, the sector requires hybrid professionals capable of bridging the gaps between science, regulation, intellectual property, business strategy and capital.

At Cesif, this need translates into a programme designed to prepare professionals not only to join the biotechnology industry, but also to actively contribute to its transformation: by identifying opportunities, driving projects forward, creating new companies or leading innovation and business development initiatives.

This vision is embodied in the new Master’s in Biotechnology Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Scientific Innovation, developed in close collaboration with AseBio. The programme offers a practical pathway to transforming scientific knowledge into value through five career tracks: entrepreneurship, technology transfer, business development, innovation management and biotech investment.

Its methodology combines the development of an applied project, mentoring by professionals from the ecosystem, and a Demo Day in front of investors and experts, exposing participants to the real challenges and decisions that determine the viability, growth and impact of an innovation.
