MedTech Barcelona: Highlights and Milestones of 2025
New Product Launches: Custom Cell Plates & Shipping Media
As 2025 comes to an end, MedTech Barcelona looks back on a year defined by growth and scientific progress. Over the past twelve months, we strengthened our global presence, expanded our product portfolio, and connected with researchers and partners across multiple continents. What follows is a recap of the initiatives and moments that shaped an important year for our company and our community.
New Product Launches: Custom Cell Plates & Shipping Media
In 2025, MedTech Barcelona expanded its portfolio with two new customizable solutions designed to address evolving scientific needs and enhance flexibility for researchers.
Custom Cell Plates
These tailor-made kits are developed for each project and delivered in a ready-to-use format, eliminating the need for in-house cell culture preparation. Custom Cell Plates support studies requiring specific cell lines, large-scale production, or limited specialized staff, and offer reliable, reproducible performance in high volumes with shorter preparation times.
Shipping Media Collaborations
MedTech Barcelona has developed a patented gel-based cell shipping medium that preserves cell viability and functional integrity for up to 11 days at ambient temperature (15–25 °C). Building on this technology, we now collaborate with leading developers of innovative cellular models to customize the use of our shipping media for their specific biological and research requirements, unlocking the convenience and efficiency of room-temperature shipment.
New Website Launch
In 2025, we unveiled our new website, an important milestone in the evolution of MedTech Barcelona’s digital identity. The updated platform offers a clear and comprehensive overview of our history, product portfolio, and services. This launch marked the beginning of a richer digital environment, with more downloadable scientific and industry-relevant content planned for the coming year.
Events and International Presence
ELRIG Drug Discovery, Liverpool
MedTech Barcelona attended ELRIG Drug Discovery 2025, an important event for early-stage drug research. Carla Sapienza and Enzo Joaquín Torasso Kasem met with scientists exploring new approaches in preclinical workflows, cellular assays, and room-temperature cell shipping.
BIOSPAIN 2025, Barcelona
At BIOSPAIN 2025, we participated in Spain’s main biotechnology event, reinforcing our role within the local innovation ecosystem and highlighting our commitment to ready-to-use in vitro models and sustainable cell-shipping technologies.
ISSX 2025, Chicago
ISSX 2025, a conference specifically focused on ADME-Tox, offered valuable opportunities to engage with experts in drug metabolism and transporter science. The event also allowed us to strengthen our long-standing collaboration with Geno Membrane, a key partner in Japan.
Spain-Singapore Business Summit
During the Spain-Singapore Business Summit, we connected with institutions and companies across Southeast Asia, opening conversations with potential partners in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Borneo, while strengthening relationships with Spanish organizations active in the region. The mission also led to the closing of a new distributor agreement in Asia, bringing our global network to a total of seven distributors.
BIO International Convention, Boston
BIO Boston 2025 strengthened our global positioning and visibility. Our delegation held more than 60 meetings with biotech companies, CROs, distributors, and research institutions, identifying new opportunities in ADME-Tox, cell therapy, and AI-driven health solutions.
MedTech Barcelona Anniversary
This year also marked the first anniversary of the acquisition of ReadyCell by MedTech Barcelona. The acquisition brought more than two decades of scientific expertise into a renewed phase of innovation and international expansion. The anniversary highlighted the transformation of a project rooted in research, now focused on scaling innovation, addressing new market needs, and accelerating impact within the life sciences sector.
Looking Ahead
The milestones achieved in 2025 reflect a year of consolidation and expanded impact for MedTech Barcelona. As we step into a new year, we foresee continued innovation driven not only by the strength of our products and shipping medium, but also by the strategic collaborations we are establishing with developers of diverse cellular models. These partnerships will enable us to adapt and refine our technology to meet emerging scientific needs and to broaden the possibilities of room-temperature biological transport.
Thanks to the dedication and collective effort of our team, who truly believe in and champion this project, we look ahead to 2026 confident that MedTech Barcelona will continue to evolve, advancing our solutions and supporting the scientific community with tools that accelerate discovery and foster meaningful progress.
