Natac Biotech receives €1.4 Million from the Spanish Ministry of Industry for the FRACTAL Project
The funding will support the development of a new generation of high-value natural ingredients, guided by data and targeted at high-impact health applications
Natac Biotech, the main company of the Natac Natural Ingredients Group (BME: NAT), dedicated to the sustainable production of botanical extracts, has been awarded €1.4 million by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism under the Industrial Value Chain Support Programme (Programa de Impulso de la Cadena de Valor Industrial – CVI).
The funding will be used to develop the FRACTAL project, a platform for the data-driven design of precision ingredients aimed at the circular and sustainable production of high-value ingredients from agri-food by-products.
With a duration of three years and a total budget of nearly €2 million, the project will contribute to the production of botanical extracts and functional ingredients supported by a comprehensive scientific validation framework, covering multiple stages of research, from in vitro and in vivo studies to human nutrition intervention trials. This approach will strengthen the scientific evidence supporting the developed ingredients and pave the way for products with enhanced scientific substantiation for use in the health and wellness sectors.
One of the project's main areas of application will be healthy ageing, a field of growing social and healthcare relevance focused on promoting healthy ageing and maintaining quality of life over time.
"With the award of the FRACTAL project, Natac further strengthens its position as a highly innovative company capable of integrating science, sustainability, and digitalisation to develop a new generation of natural ingredients. The project represents another step in the company's evolution towards precision solutions designed through data, supported by scientific evidence, and focused on generating a positive impact on people's health," said José María Pinilla, Head of Innovation at Natac.
