Natac Natural Ingredients (NAT), a biotechnology company specialising in the sustainable production of botanical extracts and omega-3 oils, has published its 2024 Sustainability Report. The document reflects, once again, the company's commitment to maximising the use of natural resources, minimising waste, and transforming underutilised raw materials into high-value ingredients, thus contributing to both human health and socio-economic and environmental well-being.

Specifically, last year Natac recycled more than 9,000 tonnes of raw materials, notably biomass from olive trees, artichokes, and thistles. In particular, the company recovered more than 1,000 tonnes of olive leaves and recovered 8,000 m³ of olive tree water fraction, equivalent to three Olympic swimming pools. Artichoke leaves were another strategic focus, with 180 tonnes recovered, representing a 300% increase compared to 2022.

In the area of quality and safety, last year the company obtained GMP certification, which guarantees compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices for active substances in the European Union. Likewise, its plant in As Somozas was certified with the GMP+ standard, a benchmark in safety and quality for feed manufacturers.

This commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the responsible management of its environmental footprint. Natac calculates its corporate carbon footprint and registers it in the National Carbon Footprint Registry, reinforcing its commitment to decarbonization.
