In order to increase the number of healthcare professionals with knowledge in AI and Big Data, thus accelerating their inclusion in the system, 'Smarth Health Awareness' is the training programme, promoted by Merck, IBM and the University of Navara-Tecnun, which presents the opportunities offered by these technologies in the development of digital transformation, contributing to the sustainability of the healthcare system.

The event on the application of AI in healthcare held last January in the Canary Islands marked the start of a new edition of the training programme on the islands. The meeting was attended by Esther Monzón, Minister of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands; Alfonso Bañón, Director of Online Programmes at the University of Navarra; Isabel Sánchez, Medical Director of Merck in Spain; and Juan Carlos Sánchez, head of IBM's healthcare area in Spain, Portugal, Greece and Israel.

This training is designed for healthcare professionals and managers to broaden their training in new technologies, specifically AI and Big Data applied to the healthcare sector. It allows them to learn about and learn about new tools that contribute to boosting and consolidating the digital transformation of the healthcare system.

This innovative technology offers multiple options in research, diagnosis and treatment systems in the healthcare field, which requires spaces for debate and analysis such as the one that facilitated the meeting for the agents involved in the field to share knowledge and experiences. The programme was recently awarded "Best project in the use of AI in corporate training" at the Expoelearning congress held in Madrid. This award demonstrates that close collaboration between organisations produces results and that it is essential to promote the development of healthcare professionals in order to achieve the full inclusion of new technologies in the national health system.
