European Commission awards ZYMVOL Biomodeling with H2020 SME Instrument Phase II (1,3 M€)
It´s for the project “UNLOCK-EDD: UNLOCK next generation computer guided Enzyme Discovery & Design”
Released in Barcelona, 10th October 2019. The European Commission has awarded ZYMVOL with a SME Instrument Phase II funding (1,3M€) for the project “UNLOCK-EDD: UNLOCK next generation computer guided Enzyme Discovery & Design”.
The project goals are:
- To keep improving the proprietary technology by implementing artificial intelligence approaches
- The development of a computational pipeline for enzyme kits
- The development of proprietary enzymes
Enzymes (biocatalysts) are increasingly used in a number of different industrial sectors with the aim to operate in a more sustainable way. The shift to this greener production requires a process of adaptation of the enzyme to the industrial process. The current market need is better performing enzymes, adapted to each industry’s particular processes and products, provided/developed in a reasonable timeframe and cost-effective manner.
ZYMVOL offers an integrated solution consisting in a (multidisciplinary) approach to enzyme engineering deployed by ZYMVOL’s technology that quickly delivers mutations required to cover the desired industrial need. It allows to replace up to 90% of experimental screens. The project addresses a market necessity of better performing enzymes and improved processes that companies are requesting.
