The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is committed to leading chemical research to address global challenges such as health, climate change, and the energy transition. Its vision is to become an international reference in molecular sciences, promoting sustainability, equity, and open science. Among its main objectives are technology transfer to industry, the training of new generation of scientists, the promotion of innovation in catalysis and renewable energies, and scientific outreach. ICIQ aims to generate a positive impact on society through a deep-tech economy, combining basic and applied research with a strong social commitment.
ICIQ offers companies and institutions access to all the technologies and know-how developed in its various areas of health, catalysis, and energy, as well as the full range of capabilities, equipment, personnel, facilities, and laboratories available at the center (ICIQ-company joint units).
In the health sector, the most notable services include medicinal chemistry, on-demand synthesis, solid-state analysis, polymorphism, crystallography, analytical development, and process optimization. Additionally, ICIQ provides access to a wide array of techniques and platforms such as liquid and gas chromatography, X-ray and electron diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, HTE, among others.
ICIQ seeks to build new bridges and establish new synergies with companies and institutions. These collaborations can take shape through competitive or private projects, service provision, technology transfer, or the creation of ICIQ-company joint units. Additionally, as an academic center, ICIQ aims to strengthen collaboration through master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral academic programs. In the health area, notable collaborations include projects in Drug Discovery, Small Molecules, and Peptides.
