Bioga and five Galician biotech companies to attend Swiss Biotech Day 2025 to network and explore collaboration opportunities with firms based in Switzerland
Bioga and five Galician biotech companies joined Swiss Biotech Day 2025, one of Europe’s leading life sciences events, to foster connections and explore partnerships with Swiss firms—highlighting Galicia’s strong commitment to internationalising its biotech ecosystem.
The Life Sciences Technological and Business Cluster (Bioga) and five companies from Galicia’s biotech ecosystem took part in Swiss Biotech Day 2025, held on May 5-6 at the Swiss city of Basel. The Galician delegation made valuable connections and explored potential collaborations with companies based in Switzerland—one of the world’s leading hubs for biotechnology and home to many of the sector’s top pharmaceutical and biotech firms.
Swiss Biotech Day 2025 is one of Europe’s most prominent biotechnology events. This year, it brought together more than 2,500 life sciences professionals from across the globe. The event provides a platform for networking, sharing ideas and projects, and exploring advances in R&D, manufacturing, data management, artificial intelligence, and innovative financing. Bioga was present with a stand at the Global Village representing the Spanish biotech ecosystem alongside Asebio and the Basque Health Cluster. The Global Village is a dedicated space within the event that connects international delegations in life sciences and biotechnology, encouraging cross-border investment, public-private partnerships, R&D collaborations, and talent exchange.
The Galician companies that participated included: GalChimia, based in Touro; CZ Vaccines, located in O Porriño—both part of the shared stand; Syspro Automation, with offices in Nigrán and A Coruña; and BFlow and Libera Bio, both headquartered in Santiago de Compostela. Earlier this year, in March, Bioga and several Galician biotech companies also attended Bio-Europe Spring 2025, Europe’s leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical fair, held in Milan. Additionally, Bioga was present at the X IBioIC Annual Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, also in March. These events reflect the sector’s strong commitment to international growth, connecting companies from key innovation hubs in Europe with the global life sciences community. Bioga’s president, José Manuel López Vilariño, emphasized that these initiatives support Bioga’s ongoing 2025 strategy to expand internationally.
The Galician ecosystem also took part in an exclusive networking session on May 5 between Swiss and Spanish companies, held at the headquarters of Vectura Fertin Pharma. There, the delegation established strategic connections and laid the groundwork for future innovation and international collaboration. Over 100 representatives from leading companies—such as Novartis, Lonza, Sandoz, Biogen, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Abbott—attended. The event was organized by ICEX and the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Bern, aiming to increase the international visibility and competitiveness of Spanish biotech firms. Participants also visited key institutions including Switzerland Innovation Park Basel, Bio-Technopark Schlieren in Zurich, and Biopôle in Lausanne.
