Navarra has launched BioSintNA, a Synthetic Biology Business Plan designed to position the region as a European benchmark in one of the most promising fields for economic and industrial transformation. The initiative, led by Sodena on behalf of the Government of Navarra, aims to create an innovative, sustainable, and collaborative business ecosystem, with a strong impact on economic development, scientific progress, and quality of life in the region.

The plan aligns with the Smart Specialisation Strategy S4 and is focused on key sectors such as health, food, and energy, as well as emerging niches like aerospace and industrialized construction. Thanks to synthetic biology, it will become possible to produce pharmaceuticals, materials, or fuels more efficiently, sustainably, and at lower costs.

Sodena acts as a coordinating and facilitating agent, fostering collaboration among companies, technology centers, and universities to turn scientific knowledge into concrete industrial applications. It also provides financial support to initiatives in early, consolidation, or expansion phases, and offers guidance to those seeking to establish themselves in Navarra.

With a global outlook, BioSintNA has already begun its international outreach. In May 2025, it was presented at the Food 4 Future fair in Bilbao, where the need for Navarrese companies to prepare for the exponential growth of the sector—expected to generate up to $4 billion in economic impact over the coming decades—was emphasized. Additionally, BioSintNA will also be featured at BIOSPAIN 2025 and other key international events in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors.

With BioSintNA, Navarra reaffirms its commitment to innovation and the bioeconomy, betting on a competitive and forward-looking productive model.
