Our goal is to carry out highly competitive and translational in the fields of biotechnology and biomedicine. This commitment has been essential for the Center since its foundation more than 20 years ago. We work to translate our knowledge into products, services and technologies for the benefit of society, providing solutions to the challenges of health.

As a result, the institute is made up of a multidisciplinary team of researchers who offer R+D+i solutions to institutions and industry, in the form of services and research collaborations.

Our mission is to become a research Center of excellence, a national benchmark focused on innovation, training and service to society. To be a productive source of products and services for practical use in industry and the clinic.

Products and services
  • Virtual screening for the discovery of therapeutic targets, new active compounds and drug repositioning (based on ADMET criteria, calculated affinity energies and commercial availability).
  • Development of different models inflammation and liver and intestinal cancer in mice; with the aim of outlining the cellular and molecular foundations of disease or for the discovery of new drugs and/or therapeutic strategies.
    • Models of intestinal inflammation.
    • Colorectal cancer models.
    • Models of hepatitis and liver cirrhosis.
    • Models of liver cancer.
  • Cosmetic tests, especially focused on dermatology in the form of services to third parties.
    • Determination of total content (polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins).
    • Antioxidant activity in vitro.
    • General tests on formulations.
    • Cellular tests.
    • Analytical tests.
  • Chromatography, flow cytometry, confocal and scanning microscopy, calorimetry, spectrofluorimetry and other molecular interaction analysis techniques.

Areas of interest for future collaborations

Taking into account that our areas are the following, anyone who can have a synergy with:

  • Molecular design and signalling: molecular, biophysical interactions and protein engineering, design and valorization of nanostructures, design of active molecules, molecular signalling and diseases.
  • Diagnosis, prognosis and molecular therapy: molecular oncology, diabetes and metabolic disorders, chronic inflammation and pain, antiviral and antimicrobial strategies, clinical pharmacology.
